Questions to Ask:

  1. How many of you are familiar with EIFS? Which Systems? PM or PB? Barrier or Drainage?
  2. Have you ever designed, built or inspected a building using EIFS?
  3. Do you currently have any projects using EIFS?
  4. Do you have any specific questions on the projects?

The main enemies of EIFS are water infiltration, improper application and improper detailing. If we can conquer these, the system and your project will look good and perform as it was intended.

We can also provide the necessary information required by design related field personnel to differentiate between proper and improper aplication procedures and to correct problems during job inspections. Inspections are vital to assure proper installation.

PLEASE ASK QUESTIONS-especially on terminology. Also ask about design and field applications you have seen practiced in the past which do not meet specifications and should not be used.

There are many systems on the market. Some are tested and of the highest quality. Others have little or no testing. Select your approved products carefully.

I. Why EIFS?

  1. Lightweight, versitile design(shapes, colors, textures, reveals, bands, etc.) energy effecient, increases comfort level, cost effective by reducing the size of heating/cooling systems, space-saving, retrofit, multicolored and various textures. Discuss PB and PM systems ans combining both systems on one project.
  2. Explain advantages over stucco, brick, curtain wall, precast, wood, etc.
  3. Explain how finish coat can be used over stucco for non-paint finish.
